Edward ends his relationship with Bella on her 18th birthday. He and his family leave Forks, Washington, leaving Bella with so much depression. Edward's absence made Bella seek comfort from Jacob Black a very good friend who always been there for her.

As time goes by Bella enjoyed being with Jacob and soon learned that Jacob is a werewolf. The werewolves protect Bella from the vampires Laurent and Victoria who seek revenge for the death of their friend James whom the Cullens killed.

Edward believed that Bella is dead and decided to flee to Italy to provoke the Volturi so they would kill him. Alice finds Bella and they rush to Italy to save Edward. When they return to Forks, Edward asks forgiveness, telling Bella the reason he left was to protect her and that she loves Bella so much which was the latter forgiven. After Bella's graduation the Cullens decided to transform her into a vampire.
